Edie opened the door, peering out at Tom. My, yes, he does have nice shoulders, she thought to herself, as her gaze roamed over him entirely, taking in his khaki slacks and dock shoes. “I thought I said I wasn’t interested in boating-” she said. Tom stared at her for a long, slow moment, now his gaze traveling over her. Self-consciously, she pulled the robe around her even tighter, suddenly aware of her nipples poking up in the cool breeze from the doorway. “I know,” he said. “But I’m hopeful. Can I come in?” “Sure,” she called back over her shoulder, hurrying for the kitchen. “Make yourself at home. I was making breakfast— are you hungry?” She carefully kept her voice breezy, casual, as if she was not at all self-conscious about entertaining a very attractive co-worker while wearing nothing but a bathrobe. “I’d love whatever you’re offering,” he called, stepping into her condo. He remembered hearing that she'd broken up with her boyfriend just a few days after he started working at the agency. The only thing that had mattered to him was learning that the very sexy brunette he’d been seeing around the office was now, miraculously available. At her reassurance that she didn’t need help, he ducked around into the kitchen, just as she flipped over a pancake in the griddle. Her chestnut hair was pulled up into one of those clamp-like combs, and the satin robe pulled across her hips and breasts, leaving little to his imagination. “Looks delicious,” he murmured, though he wasn’t speaking about the pancakes. She glanced up at him, startled, then smiled warmly. “It’s my go-to breakfast,” she admitted. Warm maple syrup, he thought. A delightful image of licking it off of her breasts struck him, and he grinned.
