Meet Jack Sallay. Our new VP of Marketing.
As you can probably tell from the previous posts about a few of the wonderful people who work at Vook, Brad Inman, our CEO and the visionary behind Vook, excels in finding talented people to help with his ventures. Well, he’s done it again!
Recent Harvard Business School grad, Jack Sallay has joined forces with Vook as our new VP of Marketing. While at HBS, Jack focused his studies on strategic and marketing issues, particularly within publishing and new technology. This wasn’t a new field for him though. Prior to business school, he spent four years at Simon & Schuster working in the publishing office of the flagship imprint. He helped devise and implement publishing campaigns for many high profile projects including New York Times bestsellers by Hillary Clinton, Bob Woodward, and David McCullough. He is also no stranger to technology — specifically video. While at HBS he spent last summer at Brightcove, a leading online video platform, in the Product Marketing group.
When “interviewing” him for this blog post, I decided to ask a few random(-ish) questions. They have to do with videos and books so I’m not too far off topic…but I thought you’d like to know that:
- When I asked him what he is most looking forward to about working at Vook he said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to have a chance to help shape the future of publishing and the way that people interact with books and video.” (I told ya us Vookers have passion!)
- His favorite book is The World According to Garp by John Irving. (a very good choice.)
- His favorite movie is The Hunt for Red October. (though his ability to give a one title answer is slightly suspect… When I’m asked what my favorite movie is, my answer usually begins with “well… what genre? what mood am I in? All time favorite? Could watch over and over again favorite?…”)
We are all so excited to have Jack on board, if not just for his expertise, then certainly for his beautiful voice (he was in an a cappella group at HBS)!
If there is anything else you would like to know about him, leave it in the comments and I’ll be sure to make him reply

How will Vooks be marketed? Will they have trailers? What literary genres are best for conversion or origination in Vook format?
Hi Rich Reader,
Thanks for your comment. Vooks are going to be marketed through many channels both new and traditional. We are also going to offer an affiliate program.
Yes, we will have trailers. I just saw the first cuts and they are awesome! Can’t wait to show you
We’ve found that all literary genres make great vooks!
Awesome, your embedded links don’t even work
Hey Mike,
